If you have read a few articles about how to start exercising, then you already know the one key to success is that you need to want to exercise.
When it comes to exercise and losing weight you have to want to add a workout routine to your lifestyle in order to lose weight.
Once you know that you want it then your next step is to set yourself a goal, by setting goals is one of the best ways to keep yourself on track to get fit.
When setting your goals it should be made up of one large goal and several mini goals.
Here is an example for instance: your large goal could be like doing 45 minutes of aerobic exercise 4 times a week and strength training 3 times a week by the end 9 to 12 months.
If you have done your research you have noticed there isn't much tips on where to exercise, but come to think about it, if you do not have enough room then you cannot get a good workout.
So before you start your exercise to lose weight, take a look at your goal.
The first question that you need to ask is what type of exercise that you would like to do? Walking is a great starting point.
Find a place where you can walk.
For example during the summer you can start your walking routine in your own neighbourhood, but you want to find an alternate walking place when the weather is bad.
Here is an example where you can walk when the weather is bad, if there is a local school in your area you can ask them to use their gym after school hours and walk around the basketball court.
Now if you have a workout video, then make sure you have enough room to exercise in front on your television so you're able to do all the exercises properly.
Find a gym that you’re able to use their workout equipment if you do not have your own home gym or room to exercise.
Find some comfortable gear
So now you know what type of exercise you would like to do and you found the perfect workout area the next step is to find comfortable gear.
Now my biggest pet peeve at my gym is I always see gym goers working out in their jeans, work uniform or even their work boots and I know they can’t be comfortable while they are working out.
So when it comes to comfort make sure you find the right gear for the exercise you're doing.
Also another tip is make sure you have comfortable clothing, try to find clothing that stretches with you as you move.
If I can offer a small piece of advice don’t wear tight jeans or ill fitting clothing.
Start off slowly
So you have read steps 1 to 3 , you now have your goals, you have enough room to exercise and you have the correct exercise gear.
If this is your first time following an exercise routine or you haven’t worked out in awhile that you should start off slowly.
If you heard this saying “no pain, no gain”, this old phrase is still used today and a lot of people still believe that if you don’t feel pain, you have not exercised at a high enough level.
Now if you have muscle soreness the next day, this is normal. But if you could no longer sit up because you have done about 100 sit-up the day before, most likely you have overdone it. The fact is the that you might have done some muscle damage
A great exercise tips to lose weight is when you're doing strength training is to alternate your muscle group. Don’t work the same muscles two days in a row.
As for aerobic exercise, a good rule of thumb is that you should be able to talk. Here is an example, you should be able to say a sentence or two, but you should not be able to sing a complete song.
So if you can still sing a song, then you need to move it up a notch and if you can’t talk then slow it down a bit. Make sure you are working within your target heart rate zone.
Warm Up , Cool Down and Stretch
Out of all the weight-loss tips out there, this is one of the most important one and most people usually skip. Before you start any workout routine, make sure you warm up and stretch your muscles. When you warm your muscle properly you want to ensure you don’t tear your muscle fibers during your workout.
When you do warm up make sure to do approximately 5 minutes. By simply walking or marching in place for a few minutes, then maybe lightly skip will warm up your muscle properly.
Next you should set some time for stretching out your muscle.
Once you have complete your warming and stretching, start your exercise routine and remember to keep your workout level that is right for you and not too hard but make it count as well.
At the end of your workout don’t forget to cool down, your cool down should be no less than 5 minutes and no more than 10 minutes. The cool down process is just as important as the warm up, but for different reasons of course.
You have been doing the same exercise for a few weeks or a few day. Now is time to make some adjustment that you that you my need.
My last exercise tips to lose weight is to make it fun and mix it up, add something you like doing, like swimming or water aerobics or even gardening.
Even try you favourite sport or a leisure actively burns calories. Maybe you might even take up a new activity once you learn how many calories you can burn.
Another fun way to keep in shape is taking your exercise to a virtual level by using the Wii Fit or Xbox.
Mix it up, adjust keep it simple and have fun!
