Type 2 diabetes tend to develop more slowly than type 1, it usually takes over a period of months or even years.  

The symptoms can appear very slowly, which can make spotting the signs a little bit more difficult.

In addition to all the symptoms above, the symptoms of type 2 diabetes can include dry mouth and leg pain. 

It’s not unusual for people living with type 2 diabetes to go on unnoticed without being aware of their symptoms.  

With these cases of undiagnosed diabetes symptoms may sometime only be picked up when you go for your routine check-up.

Get Tested For Diabetes

Your doctor will be able to carry out different test to see if you have diabetes or not.

Understanding The Risk of Diabetic Complications

Recognizing the signs early can help you prevent the development of complications.

The sooner you get diagnosed, the sooner you can treat and control your diabetes, which will reduce the risk of complications.

For example people with type 1 diabetes get a condition called diabetic ketoacidosis which is common. If left untreated, this can result in very dangerous complications and even death, but it can be indication of the presence of type 1 diabetes.

This happens when acid compounds ketones form in the blood. Only your doctor or health professional testing for type 1 diabetes he or she may wish to test for ketones to prevent ketoacidosis occurring,
