Declined Bench Partial Sit-up With Weight

This declined bench partial sit-up with weight exercise works on strengthen your abs in two ways. The first is that you’re doing a sit up on the decline bench. The second is that you’re adding a weight to the exercise. The weight that you can use is a dumbbell or medicine ball.

First lock you feet into a decline bench and lie back on the bench. Grab the dumbbell or the  medicine ball and hold the weight over your chest. Perform a partial sit-up. The torso should come to roughly a 30-degree angle. Slowly return to the starting position. Repeat the exercise as needed.

NOTE: You should exhale as you perform the sit-up. To get the most out of this exercise, perform it in a slow and controlled manner.

Step 1

Grasp weight. Lie down on bench. Extend weight over chest.

Step 2

Perform a partial sit-up. Torso should be approx. 30-degree angle. Exhale as you sit up.

Step 3

Return the start position. Repeat as needed.
