This Broccolini recipe with Hazelnuts is a great new twist to on boring steamed broccolini.

This vegetable is more tender and the flower are milder than a typical broccoli, but they are as easy to steam, saute or roast.

This veggies are often sweeter in the spring, but it can be found year round at my grocery stores.

If you can not find broccolini you can always use broccoli florets.

How To Make Broccolini Recipe with Hazelnuts

8 servings


1 tablespoon(s) olive oil, or coconut oil (or use bacon drippings)

1/3 cup(s) hazelnuts, roughly chopped

1 medium garlic clove(s), minced or sliced thin

1 pound(s) broccolini, trimmed(or use broccoli florets, if you cannot find broccolini)


Heat a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add oil.

When pan is hot, add hazelnuts and brown, stirring constantly to be sure they do not burn (about 4-5 minutes).

As soon as a toasty, nutty aroma comes from the hazelnuts, remove from pan and set aside.

Return the sauté pan to medium heat and add the garlic and broccolini to the pan. Toss to coat with remaining oil in pan. Cover and steam for 5-6 minutes, or until bright green and slightly tender.

Remove from pan, top with hazelnuts and serve immediately.

Approximate Cook Time: 10 to  12 minutes

Total Time: 15 to 17 minutes
